Music In Mendoza
Music for Personal and Community Enrichment
Creating original pieces, developing one’s musical skills, and learning studio production are just a few aspects of our music program. Students have the chance to share the studio with Argentines and engage in true collaborations – an endeavor that involves new sounds, sensibilities, ideas, and instruments. This aspect, though, is as much about building relationships, communicating, and having fun than just making music. Our hope is to use music in its rightful place – in integration within the community, friendships, and our own personal development.
Staff and Studio
Rich Simpson, founder of World Music Pathways, was a professional musician during his younger years and has taught and recorded with young people over the past 15 years. He has co-produced countless original compositions, songs, musical poems, humorous skits, radio commercials, radio jingles and academic recorded projects. His specialty is working one on one with students and helping them make their own songs.
Interns are also aided in the studio by Scott Woodruff, a reggae artist and former student, who be setting up a second Pro-Tools powered studio.
Our recording studio is open to interns throughout their stay. It includes state of the art music equipment. We use an I-Mac desktop computer with award-winning Pro Tools Recording Software and Reason Sequencing and Synthesizing Software to record and song-write. Other important instruments and tools are a Yamaha MO8 keyboard, several guitars, an electronic drum-set, microphones, and a digital handheld recorder.
Students
We accept students 17 and older who, aside from a having motivation to grow as musicians, approach this experience with a positive attitude, flexibility, and curiosity. We provide a well-balanced and structured program for your stay in Argentina – but in the end, it is you who defines and determines the success of the experience.
We work with both advanced and beginner music students. As long as participants bring a willingness and openness to create and learn, we will help facilitate inspiring musical projects.

"My experience in Argentina is one that influences me in every aspect of my life. Learning a new language, listening to new music, making life-long friends and living in a new culture, have given me a new found perspective outside my own box. The opportunities that are provided by World Music Pathways led me to a new understanding of not only the world around me, but also of myself."
